metformin hydrochlorideYes. Girls with PCOS are more likely to get pregnant while taking Metformin (if they’re sexually active and not using birth control). Metformin (combined with a healthy diet and regular exercise) can assist with weight loss. Often, weight loss can help regulate a woman’s cycle and thus she is likely to ovulate (make and release eggs). If an egg is fertilized (sperm from a male comes together with an egg of a female), she could become pregnant.

If you’re sexually active or plan to be, talk to your health care provider about a birth control method that’s right for you, and be sure to use condoms every time you have sex.
