I’m a virgin but I have gas from my vagina sometimes. What is this? Please help.

girl with hands over groinAlthough it can be embarrassing, most of the time passing gas from the vagina is normal. The lay terms for this are: “vaginal fart”, “vart” or “queef”.  It usually happens when air gets into the vaginal canal. This can occur with exercise, after a pelvic exam, during or after masturbation or sex.

The gas should not have an odor (like the gas that comes from your rectum), and there should not be any sort of discharge or fluid when the air is expelled. If you have any of these symptoms, you should make an appointment with your health care provider.
