Although women are most fertile during the middle part of her cycle, there’s a chance a woman can become pregnant ANY TIME she has unprotected intercourse, AND pregnancy can happen even if a male partner removes his penis from the vagina before releasing sperm. This is because the fluid that comes out of the penis before ejaculation may have sperm left over from a previous ejaculation. A woman can even become pregnant if she doesn’t actually have vaginal intercourse – if the male releases his sperm close to her vagina.
If you’re sexually active and you don’t want to become pregnant, talk to your health care provider and chose a birth control method that’s right for you. ALWAYS use condoms to help prevent STIs.
