What is leukorrhea?

female gender symbolLeukorrhea is the medical name for normal vaginal discharge. You may notice it in your underwear. It’s usually thick and sticky. It can be white or yellow, but it doesn’t cause itching, pain, burning or irritation of the tissue around the vaginal opening. It’s hard sometimes to tell the difference between leukorrhea and vaginal discharge caused from STIs or a yeast infection. If you’re sexually active and have a vaginal discharge that is new or different, you should make an appointment with your health care provider.
