Weight is like any other personal feature- it’s different for every individual. There is no “normal” that fits everyone! Rather, it’s important to understand what’s normal for you. There are some questions you can consider that might help:
- Based on your previous growth, has your weight drastically changed from your typical growth patterns?
- Do you feel that you are eating when you’re hungry and stopping when you’re full?
- Would you consider your meals to be relatively balanced?
- Are you able to incorporate some movement such as walking or other physical activity into your day on most days?
These are important questions to help you understand whether your current weight is normal for you. If you’re unsure about whether your current weight status falls along your personal growth curve, you can ask your health care provider. Depending on your height, and normal growth curve, if you’ve had any recent weight fluctuations it can be helpful to check in with your health care provider.
