Great question! Unfortunately, it’s hard to say exactly what the long piece of skin may be without seeing it. The excess skin may be part of the labia minor (the smaller inner labia). No two vulva’s (outer part of a women’s genitals) are the same, which means no two labia majora or minoras are the same. They came in all different shapes, sizes, and colors. If the excess skin isn’t painful and doesn’t get in the way, it’s probably OK to leave alone. However, if you are worried about the excess skin or it becomes painful, talk to your health care provider (HCP). They will likely be able to tell you the reason for the excess skin by simply looking at it!
