Great question! Unfortunately, it’s hard to say exactly what the long piece of skin may be without seeing it. The excess skin may be part of the labia minor (the smaller inner labia). No two vulva’s (outer part of a women’s genitals) are the same, which means no two labia majora or minoras are the same. They came in all different shapes, sizes, and colors. If the excess skin isn’t painful and doesn’t get in the way, it’s probably OK to leave alone. However, if you are worried about the excess skin or it becomes painful, talk to your health care provider (HCP). They will likely be able to tell you the reason for the excess skin by simply looking at it!
- I had some sort of skin tag turn up overnight. It’s right next to my labia – what could it be?
- I have never had sex but I have multiple bubble like bumps on my inner labia. What do you think it is?
- I have labial hypertrophy (enlarged labia) and haven’t gotten my period yet although my mother and sister got it when they were 13 years old. Does the fact that I have large labia have anything to do with me not getting my period yet?
