Is it normal to feel depressed and suicidal before your period?

Many girls and women experience a wide range of feelings  before and during their periods. When a person becomes very depressed before every period but is usually okay at other times, this is often referred to as Premenstrual Dysmorphic Disorder.  Feeling suicidal, for whatever reason, is very serious. Please tell a trusted adult, such as a parent, school counselor or primary care provider right away so you can get help and feel better. Therapy or counseling may help and there are also effective medications. If you are not able to get help very soon and feel suicidal, please call one of the hotlines below or go to the emergency room of your nearest hospital.
