Can I put a birth control patch on and have sex at the same time?

To prevent pregnancy, you must use another form of birth control such as a male or female condom, diaphragm or sponge the first week that you use the “patch” unless you start using it during your period. Remember, the patch does not protect against sexually transmitted infections. Condoms are very effective in preventing the spread of most STIs but you need to use them EVERY TIME you have sex.
