Project Healthy Lifestyle Goes Live!
June 2009
We're proud to announce a New Nutrition & Fitness Curriculum- Project Healthy Lifestyle (PHL), a unique “Train-the-Trainer” curriculum for teen peer leaders and others who want to motivate youth to be healthy and fit. PHL emphasizes the importance of balancing nutrition and exercise as the key to a healthy life. The CYWH youth advisors and staff piloted this program with peer leaders at Sociedad Latina, Cambridge Action Project, and H.O.P.E. last year.
The curriculum consists of a Facilitator’s Guide, four modules (Healthy Eating & Bone Health Basics, Making Healthy Food Choices, Fad Diets & Healthy Weight Management, and Fun Fitness) which include PowerPoint presentations and talking points, health guides, ice-breakers, games and activities. The modules can be used separately or as part of a series of lessons about healthy eating and fun fitness. The curriculum is free and can be accessed right here on our website!

Thanks to the excellent work of Christina Lenis - Producer, Eleni Stefanopoulos - Writer, and Hannah Morrow - Director, three wonderful students at Simmons College in Boston. And thanks also to our own Alex Schwarzer-Muth, who had the great idea for this project, and who coordinated the work of the Simmons students. In November they arrived at the Resource Center with cameras, lights, scripts, the works! And they shot and edited several videos about the CYWH — featuring our fabulous youth advisors — and including an outtakes reel! Not only that, they set up an account for us, so we have our own YouTube channel. Check us out! Thank you Christina, Eleni, Hannah, and Alex!
