Does having bacterial vaginosis or BV cause future fertility problems later (trouble getting pregnant)?

clue-cellYes. If you don’t get treated, BV can cause pelvic inflammatory disease, which can damage your reproductive organs, making it difficult to become pregnant later. The good news is there IS treatment for BV! If you have BV, GET TREATED and TAKE ALL OF YOUR MEDICINE (even if you begin to feel better after your first or second dose). Sometimes BV can come back even if you take all of your medication and follow your health care provider’s (HCP) advice. Talk to your health care provider; you may need to be on medicine for a longer amount of time.
